nacho's birthday ice cream

nacho had some peanut butter doggie ice cream from the hop for his birthday. he enjoyed it thoroughly.

today is nacho's 7th birthday. he got a baby pool to swim in, he is going for a walk to the pond, and later he will get peanut butter flavored doggie ice cream from the hop.

he is a clown dog, he always makes me laugh, and he is soft like a bunny with bucked teeth and an oversized gullet.

his latest nickname is fluffycups.

my brother and angela had their baby! monday night almost midnight. i think 5-10-10 is a sweet birth date. he was 8lbs 1 oz. they named him william. i asked chris if it was after braveheart, and he said 'obviously.' they're going to call him will. i'm going to call him willie. ang pushed him out with no drugs whatsoever. i want drugs just thinking about it. he's pretty freakin adorable!

beautiful weather today here in asheville, about to go for a hike and then later for some dinner and drinks. can't beat it!

could a puppy be cuter than nacho?

florida trip

had a great time in florida for a few days last weekend. flew into weather so bad they closed the PNS airport and turned off the lights and had to use the light of my cell phone to use the bathroom. after that it was very sunny and very windy all weekend. stayed at a very nice place called watersound in santa rosa. the sand was like powdered sugar and the whole area was deserted. lovely! this was the waking up view.

also they charge $11 for a watered down well bloody mary at the CLT airport, with NO olives. obscene!

poor holden. he had major surgery a week ago for his lipoma tumors, and still has stitches in for another few days, but the two biggest tumors look like they're back already. it's like the sites filled back up with fluid that didn't drain. he is going back to the vet this afternoon to get them looked at. if after all this he still has tumors the size of tangerines on his chest i will feel awful. i should have burned that $700 and just cracked him in the ribs with a sledgehammer.

in other news, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SH32! have a stupendous monday! yay being born in the year of the dragon!

holden my loyal little friend turns a ripe old 10 today. this is from his ride home after being plucked from the breeder's bargain bin.

i just got back from the vet, where i left holden. he is right now in surgery to remove a rib from his intestines. i didn't feed him any ribs, i guess he got it somehow in the neighbor's yard where he was playing wednesday. he threw up twice yesterday and i wasn't too worried, then threw up again today & i took him in to the vet.

he might be able to come home tomorrow or he might have to stay the whole weekend at the emergency vet.

we're talking thousands of dollars. and one sick, sick puppy.

i was supposed to go tubing down the green river tomorrow with a bunch of people, not any more.

i hope he's okay. my little buddy.

***UPDATE***Friday 8PM

just talked to the vet, holden made it through surgery, the bone was in his upper small intestine, caught in the spot where he had surgery back when he was 2 & ate a pair of my roommate's tights. it was just about to perforate, another day and he would've been a goner. she said they saved the bone for me. he's doped up on pain killers resting overnight and she'll call first thing in the morning to let me know how he's doing. but so far so good.

2 highlights

through the diligent taping and uploading efforts of my friend ben and the wonders of technology, we can now relive time and time again the minute and a half before the encore started when tea leaf steve said happy birthday to me. it is tied for life highlights with this, in 1986, when i met ray knight of the world champion new york mets.
