WTF Wednesday: Moving to Colorado
Hello Wednesday! Hello WTF!
There will be no creepy dolls today, I'm sorry - but I have some WTF news to share - Skippy Haha Vintage is officially moving to Colorado.
Though a tragic change in family circumstances is driving this decision, it's definitely a positive move on the whole - there are a few really awesome people in Denver that we're lucky to spend a lot more time around in the coming years.
I am extremely sad to be leaving the river that flows through our backyard.
I am a little worried that the thrift stores of Colorado will not measure up to the wondrous bounty of Western NC's goodwills, but hoping to find lots of old rodeo duds.
I am sad to be leaving some excellent friends, and Asheville's progressive creative hippie community where I immediately felt welcome when I first came to visit 10 years ago (this week!)
I am sad to be leaving Marco's pizza.
I am excited to be in an awesome (warm! thick-walled!) house in Evergreen.
I am excited for all the spectacular hiking opportunities in Colorado.
I am excited to live in a state where grass is legal and swat teams are not busting into people's homes over a plant.
I am excited to live in a state where Single Payer Health Care is on the ballot next week.
I am excited to live much closer to some of the most amazing, generous, fun-loving, adventurous, brave, funny, and smart friends and family in existence.
Our moving date is in November - which is now officially this month.
I'll do my best to be back next week with more WTF treasures.

WTF Wednesday: Scorpion Suckers, Attack Jackass
Aloha Wednesday! Aloha WTF!
Back from a few days in Arizona where the sun was a-shining and the WTF was a-flowing.
Thanks for the warning.
My sweet niece caught the WTF bug and helped me find some "weird stuff" at the ghost town:
What's floating inside that lollipop?
Oh you know, just a scorpion carcass.

happy birthday, DAD!
Today is my dad's birthday.
Here he is winning the Rhode Island Jr. Chamber of Commerce Golf Sportsmanship Award in 1959.
He's in a seersucker suit, and that's my dearly departed grandpa Wallace cut off on the left behind him.
Of course he won this award, he is the most right-minded, selfless, even-keeled person you could ever meet! The other kids never had a chance.
Happy birthday Big Papi!

happy birthday, sugarhoney!
today is the day our little sugarsnickers turns 1. it's also the day nachodoggy would have turned 12.
we were kind of hoping for a mini-nacho, and she has kind of delivered.
she does a couple things that nacho did, that the other dogs do not do.
she runs right down to the river and swims in circles in the exact same spot nacho used to do it.
(see nacho swim in circles)
the other dogs wait on the bank until we throw something. nacho and sugar really seem to enjoy swimming, and get in for the joy of swimming.
if she is too hot on a hike, she lies down.
(nacho did the same thing)
of course, she is her own dog. she is so round, it's like she's made out of beach balls. i don't know if it's a female dog thing, but to me she is the shape of the olympic rings.
she is in love with pouncey. she follows him everywhere. she is constantly thinking of new and creative ways to vie for his attention.
she gets herself uphill from him and lets loose.
she is not afraid to jump on the couch for a snuggle.
she is calm and gentle, she wags her tail when she meets new dogs and people, and she will come, sit, and lie down when she feels like it.
mainly she is just a little skunk who fits in riiiiight there.
happy birthday, sugarchunks! today you will celebrate with a meatball!

WTF Wednesday: Mini Me, Singing Shapes, Cooking Kids
Bon jour, Wednesday! Bon jour WTF!
I spent last week at the beach in Georgia for a fun family vacation. Riding in the car to the grocery store, my 7 year old niece was playing with my phone and came upon the WTF Flickr stream of photos, and we laughed for 10 minutes as she read the titles for every one. We didn't call them WTF, we called them 'weird things.' When we got to the grocery store, she suggested we look for weird things to take pictures of. My heart leapt into the atmosphere!
These are the two weird things she found completely by herself.
Catnip toy. Glittery mice. Totally weird thing.
Hot and fluffy. Weird! Yes!
Moving along to some vintage records. Mr. Al sings colors and shapes.
10 Commandments for Children. Why are there 11 children? What are they doing?
Hawaiian war looks kind of relaxing.
Bunny planter.
Wants a hug.
Indeed.
Barbies gone wild.
Learn to cook cats, kids, and pee.
WTF eyelashes.
Another natural tongue out tuesday figurine - fox on a blue log with mushrooms.
Last but not least, hey there crappily painted bow-tie teddy bear wearing an October sash. (waves).

SNOWDAY!
They called for 5 inches, and we got 5 inches. The dogs love it!
This is a different kinda snowball.
Sunrise on the snowy Swannanoa river.
I always dreamed of becoming a white lab.
Pouncey will get the ball, no matter what.
Sugarhoney will stalk him on the bank, no matter what.
Something on your nose, E.
Snow pounce!
Sugar heart tongue.
Stay warm, amigos!
