my tent is raised up & i will be chatting online with babes all night
usually #6 is my favorite track on the cd
'not fit' starts and ends with some of the best lyrics i've heard-
"i'm not fit to be in the company of women
i drink a bit & smell like the jungles of india....
i'm no good at asking please or saying thank you
i'll lick your knife, butter your toast with a rusty spoon
i'll talk all night and i won't even tell you how pretty you are
i'm impolite, i'll drink you up in a dirty jar......
but don't be down on me..."

end of the night
the aerogarden is trucking right along, the greens are sprouting from every pod. another couple weeks & it'll be harvest time.
all my temecula wine glasses are also holding up, as is the glass i have from west point that says "With Pride We Defend USMA 97." i got it 10 years ago at a dance at west point and i drink OJ from it every morning. right up there with meeting Ray Knight and having Tea Leaf Green say happy birthday to me is the Camp Buckner weekend in august 1994 when my bestest girl friends & i went up to west point for a dance with extremely cute older boys in uniforms. no! sleep! til buckner! we all had just graduated high school & were leaving for college in the next couple of weeks & it was just a really exciting time full of freedom and hormones.

Kali Yuga Seeds
Kali-Yuga
how far will we go on monday
i asked cause our speed had increased
that germ of transcendence is
always within us, at least
i know we’ve got to keep on going
a fast car won’t ever rust
and these hands of invisible organic forces
are pushing and pulling us
it’s a long way
through Kali-yuga
age of iron
cooled in the ocean
and mountains
are for exploring
devils have danced on my doorstep
and angels have sung in my yard
wise men are hiding in the mountains
while most of us are working too hard
speed is our last great invention
we race and we roll to arrive
by mineral, by mountain, by magnet and meteor
it’s hard enough to just get by
it’s a long way
through Kali-yuga
age of iron
cooled in the ocean
and the mountains
are for exploring

athens 4 5 08
tea leaf green played at the 40 watt in athens last night, and brought the fuego start to finish. allie kral from cornmeal came out to fiddle on the "devil's pay" encore & it was one of the most rousing musical performances i've had the great fortune to witness. i hope if i'm lucid on my deathbed that memory comes back. total joseph campbell unity connection moment. josh clark and trevor garrod are just amazingly creative musicians, i can't praise this band and the people who keep them on the road enough, it's an all-star family of genuine sincere gritty hardworking prodigies.
now for crap news, my computer melted this morning when i turned it on, i actually smell burning rubber. 1 year old. ridiculous. computer repair's not open til tomorrow. i might get a mac. does everybody who has a mac love it? should i need a new computer every 6 months? i'd like to beat it with a golf club.

i was having some tea, thinking about how great it will be to see a few tea leaf green shows in their upcoming southeast tour, while they have steve adams from ALO sitting in on bass, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but ALO reflected in my teacup.

responsibility & abundance
one of the coolest things i got for christmas this year was from mappy camper - it's a paper box with scores of words on little pieces of paper inside, and every morning i shake it around & pull out a couple & think about it. for instance, yesterday (black widow hunting) i got "courage" and "flexibility." today's were 'responsibility' and 'abundance' and i think the lesson to teach myself in this situation is to take 'responsibility' for my dogs and self by staying here, and don't worry there will be an 'abundance' of tea leaf green shows in north carolina, south carolina, tennessee, georgia, and/or virginia that i will be able to get to in '08.
cool present, isn't it?

scattering tea leaves
"After ten great years on the road as a touring musician, I have come to the realization that this life is not for me. As a result, I have decided to leave Tea Leaf Green to pursue some of my life's other passions. I wish my brothers in the band only the best. Their future is surely bright. Most of all, I am so grateful to my family, friends, and fans. You've always encouraged my free spirit; thanks for your continued support.
Ben C.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In any band, there exists a dynamic between the collective's goals and those of the individual members. At times, aspirations that were once aligned, diverge. This is one of those times. We support Ben's decision without reservation and wish him only the best. We know he put his heart and soul into thinking this through, just like he did with Tea Leaf Green these past ten years; we admire Ben for staying true to himself.
As one chapter ends, so another begins. In this moment of transition, we've reached out to our good friend, Reed Mathis, who enthusiastically accepted the torch. Please join us in Santa Cruz as we welcome Reed to the band. Let's get this show on the road!
Tea Leaf Green"
he went by many names - milky chambers, the weed, franz hanzerbeak, & more - he was hard to photograph because he moved too constantly, always grooving head bobbing chicken walking plucking his bass hard and when they passed the mic to him he rapped heady funky goodness and the dancefloor was instantly transformed from manic schwirly chaos to a community getting down to ben c. all together now.
and today he's off to pursue other passions and i wish him extremely well but my heart aches with i feel like we let him down, i as a fan let him down, he wasn't happy enough playing for us to keep doing it. i shouldve gone to more shows, shouldve burned cd's for more people, all that stuff a band as talented as tea leaf green deserves but i also feel like could be they're tilting in a different direction from the planet of green love into the rock n roll band and they're playing 100+ shows a year back and forth and back and forth across the US and canada & a lot of those shows are short festival sets and opening for other bands, and hardly ever do they pass the mic to ben c. in a show like that. life on the road for these people is never easy i imagine. i'll always have a biscuit from NYE '05 to remember him by, and the memories, good god the memories, and the live music archive.
can't wait to see the new tea leaf green, hope they come this way soon.
