longing haiku 25-32

intense interest in
what you do all day how your
hours while away

waiting for the one
he would've moved for if she
had only asked him

deeper the valley
higher the mountain better
the view from the top

fresh green sap rush up
spiral thrust down spread out now
take root bloom like mad

the melody brings
me back to backseats when the
sun was clean & hot

you thought what i thought
our eyes meet flicker flicker
i thought what you thought

make me laugh so hard
i want to put you in my
pocket forever

not longing haiku 33-40

the sun goes down &
to be awake feels wrong &
lamps lit, we fight it

lost tossed would like to
gather moss but can't find a
rock to crawl under

if my last words are
it was fun while it lasted
things went pretty well

if i were a man
i could take a walk right now
without being scared

the cops have been called
you have set off an alarm
leave while you still can

one thing i believe
there is nothing inspiring
about suicide

we were friends one time
your petty desperation
ruins another meal

say the same things til
you melt into one big dull
person with no point

funshy

if i scare you
it's your fault
your mind is closed
youre free to judge me
the choices i make
do not harm me
would not harm you
i never pressure
i never preach
you'll never see
& it's your loss
my friend

august 18

sick sweet
heavy sweet
full mid august heat
heavy sun full
day turns honey brown
drip drop heavy sweet
sludge of spring summer
accumulates here bucket
swill together dark full
droplets amber sun heavy gold
drops dark red full burst
angle more steep sooner does creep
dark fall full deep
fall from gold heat
beat beat beat beat
beat beat beat beat --

the last comanche war hero sips a mint julep in the bronx

i wanna write things that
when they're done
people will have to
go back and
re-read
immediately
and
often.

chain

so she didn't like it
now what will you do
whisper worn out secrets
to the neck of someone new

hang nail

bloodshot eye
i shot blood

from my finger
stained the rug

cut the skin
just too deep
ripped it off
pain's not cheap

take it back
if i could
throbbing sore
push the wood

not longing haiku 25-32

stretch bend do push ups
if you don't touch your toes how
do you know you can

there's nothing like a
dog with a copter tail to
brighten you right up

buttery grilled cheese
hot chocolate thawing fingers
after shoveling

sometimes when you rhyme
the rhythm the rhythm the
rhythm is just off

when things seem a mess
break it down to ritual
take it step by step

i could sing along
the first time i heard it &
that's a good feeling

get to or have to?
hafta get or get to have?
resent or inspire

some things just are not
inevitable you don't
have to spill next time

one way to look at it

you marry and divorce
everyone you meet
love's neverending force
in strangers on the street

imposing fines

Help yourself
Take it all
Save me some
Screen your calls

Fall asleep
By yourself
On your side
In a ball

Spin all night
Get up tired
Try to be
Not a liar

deadlines make
time bunch up
some's for them
done with us

won't compete
come home late
last one out
lock the gate

send your love
down the line
starts with fire
ends with fines

lucky singer haiku

weak end

say nothing is right
until nothing is left
picking your fights
hoarding your best

full of hot air
watery eyes
clouded just stare
at the saturday skies

peace haiku 17-22

if all of us are
bored why don't we do something
instead of nothing

you're not down & out
you've not yet begun to fight
we'll laugh at our fright

the more you can drink
the further you can get from
making a difference

why worry about
war when there's so much goddamned
wardrobe going on

you'll live forever
sing your legacy until
there is no more dust

it's never too late
when somebody believes it
could possibly work

not longing haiku 17-24

hate to distract or
mislead or play around or
break things i cant fix

dying alone is
a better fate than dying
next to one you hate

on the fairyland
battlefield pixie wings were
strewn all glittering

i saw you today
& felt like i didn' t know
you & never had

you try to be a
good dog & bring me the bone
i don't want a bone

would i be better
off in an accident with
you or by myself

string of accidents
brace myself for more to come
won't get you involved

when i paint flashes
of childhood come back to me
that is the best part

longing haiku 17-24

do right do right now
play nice 'neath the twisted bough
when your heart allows

i will bring you down
after dusting off wings you
forgot that you had

i long for old times
before i knew how to hate
how hate makes us cry

i long for old friends
to rise from their graves & live
like princes they were

you have lots of dirt
i have holes that can't be filled
and yes they're my own

there were good times too
in the middle of horror
things seem so funny

i painted something
while thinking of you and i
hung it already

there's a fine line and
sometimes i walk it sometimes
i'm way at the end

not longing haiku 9-16

practiced at the art
of exclusion of those who
make everything wrong

they all have a ding
they're all banged up in some way
and then there are those

i try to inspire
candle's wick electric wire
don't touch leaping fire

i'll give it for free
and take it for free, when the

strings attach, i'm gone

fear of the unknown
possibility of pain
destruction failure

selfish demon lurks
i'm not who i think i am
we'll all be surprised

every second counts

i'm so impatient that i
eat green bananas

young sad high late night
you forget sleep is not death
there's another chance

longing haiku 9-16

how soon we forget
a desire fulfilled is a
wick that's been burned down

keep your friends close and
your enemies closer and
your muses in flight

i left my heart in
someone's pocket they threw it
in with the laundry

i want to be numb

float down the stream on a raft
a big bumper boat

is this on the test
if not i'll daydream about
cute boys and sweaters

there's nothing to say
now that the line has been drawn
we can't get back there

my need is a pit
so hollow it's without sides
black tar sucking hole

the orange blossom
smells sweeter than sugar on
cotton candy cake

peace haiku 9-16

think kind thoughts & they
will be returned to you as
long as you keep on

chaos collapses
bridges but then we gather
to build two canoes

plant a tomato
will it rot & fertilize
its own seeds maybe?

eat your vegetables
you'll be happy that you did
eat your vegetables

no need to be scared
when you're prepared just take what
comes & you'll be fine

i've hit in anger
red fist hit red flesh make welt
i've no right to judge

don't live in the shade
just for fear of sunburn or
you'll wither. really.

make you feel better
even if what we share is
history of pain

yoga wheel haikus

yoga is just stand
there and don't hurt anyone
including yourself

everytime you go
for a ride you don't have to
reinvent the wheel

peace haiku 1-8

more good work gets done
when like brothers & sisters
we all act as one

there may be peace where
you are and i will do my

best to have peace here

these are dark ages
stoke the flames of truth & light
whenever you can

there's magic in the
paths between the homes of your
friends when you're little

can you remember
the very first time you saw
a dandelion

fuzzy yellow ball
darker gold in the middle
a few together

act like the person
you want to become when you
forget how to act

from december's wet
snow the green of kindness grows
towards roots that were numb
