"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." - MLK
As I froze my rear off walking in the parade yesterday, I was reminded of these great words and the many great words of a great man. People ask how far we've come...not very far if you ask me.
do you think the steps have been baby, but they have been steps? we have for the first time candidates other than old white men. that is something. maybe there were the same percentages of kind/unkind people back in the 60's, but i have to think the more the melting pot keeps melting the better it's getting slowly bringing families of different colors and religions together and opening minds...possibly?
That's my favorite MLK quote, Skippy. I wish it were true today, but sadly, it's not the reality for everyone.

ReplyDeletefor sure. sometimes i tend to focus on where i think we should be instead of how far we've come. thanks for the insight.
