a great way to spend a tuesday night is jumping and smiling at a sold-out orange peel while xavier rudd plucks and bangs and blows on his gadgets and sings about peace and love in a real real real way.

myxosarcoma

i heard from the vet yesterday after she got back holden's pathology tests on the tumors they removed. 5 of the 6 were benign lipomas, the 6th - the biggest one the size of the big mac over his heart - was a myxosarcoma. those have the potential to come back and spread. right now it's where the seroma is - the fluid build up - which is the size of a nerf football waterbed hanging from his chest.

she said if the tumor comes back the options are either radiation or another surgery with more 'aggressive' tissue removal. the closest place for dog radiation is in south carolina and he'd have to go back several times. i told her i would not have him radiated. i said i'd think about more aggressive surgery. she said it would be months or a year before the tumor came back and i said i'll monitor it & let her know.

because of the seromas and stitches he has been housebound for weeks now. he hasn't even gone for a walk around the block. i guess he's happy enough going from dogbed to dogbed but it seems like that's no life for a dog.

i think if it comes back, i'm not going to have him go through surgery again and i'll just let him go. you know?

downtown asheville, walking past the jerusalem garden restaurant this morning, a man who looked to be the owner or manager was hosing down the sidewalk. spraying water on and in between all the cement blocks to wash cigarette butts into the street or in front of his neighboring businesses on either side.

he paused as i needed to walk on the sidewalk he was spraying

me: you know we're in a terrible drought?

him: (yelling) people should not be allowed to smoke on the street!

me: don't you have a broom? this is so irresponsible and greedy.

asheville gear stolen!

Dear fans, family, and friends,

Please forward this to everyone you know in Asheville NC....

So we played at show at the Garage at Biltmore last night in Asheville NC and had to leave our bus there because our fuel filter needed changing (and we were going to cange it in the morning) long story short...someone (or people) stole gear from our bus and below is a list of what it was. The worst thing about it is our lighting guy, Brian, had his recording gear from which he makes his living off of (valued at $8000) stolen. It was probably stolen between 3:30 and 8am. If you have any information about the gear below please email or call me as soon as possible. Luckly we still have all our instruments and lights so the tour will go on as scheduled with the exception of our alley katz show in Richmond VA tonight (9/12) which has been canceled so we can deal with this issue.

Stuff that was stolen

1. Brand new Red Ibenez Artcore Hollow body guitar, double humbuckers
In a epiphone case, semi scratched. Pocket Rocket headphone amp inside in console with $300-500 cash in it.

2. Macbook Pro silver. 15 inch. Not even a year old. Little bit of a dent on right front corner. In a foam silver and black gun case.

3. Macbook Black. Little beat up. One scratch in the middle of the screen.

4. Sound Devices 442 four channel mixer - Black

5. Sound Devices 744T four channel recorder – Silver

6. Schoeps condenser microphone w/ GVC & Cut 1 – silver
